A song

Posted on November 14, 2019 by wordhabit

In the middle of what felt to me like emptiness
I heard you call my name
In the middle of uncertain hope, pain, regret
I heard you call my name

Confusion carved suspicion straight across my chest
I heard you call my name
Perfection choked the life out of my every breath
I heard you call my name

A let my feet walk out the door and feel the air
I heard you call my name
On solid ground I stood as straight as I could bear
I heard you call my name

Creating space a I raised my arms above my head
I heard you call my name
Hands stretched high I asked you just for daily bread
I heard you call my name

The mountains don’t come crashing down
The lost things are yet to be found
Yet I have heard no greater sound than when
I heard you call my name
