I’ve been the mother of a fully formed human being for 5 years. That’s incredible.

Many days, parenting is a thing I’ve wanted and never wanted at the same time. I’m learning to be okay with the shift–parenting, introversion, and perfection aren’t fast friends. I’m not at all good at it. This is a very long graduate-level course and I’m not allowed a DG.

If this feels familiar, here’s a try-on: sleep early, rise early, bask in controlled quiet, then love on your littles. This sort of self-care (which gets easier when you’re beyond night feedings and such) helps me love my children.

It did today, anyway. Now here’s to an early bedtime.
